Should I upgrade from my mini 2 to a flip?

I think this comes down to "what do you want to do with it?" and then see if the Flip fits well with that. If you just want to have fun flying, then I think the FPV drones are better for that. If you want to take photos or video...

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

31 minutes of flight time! That's amazing. It's longer than my old Mavic 2 Pro, and like 3-4 times what a typical FPV drone can do. We're just spoiled by the Mavic 3's and Air 3's.

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

So another way this fits in the lineup is that it's a nice starter drone. $439 to get a drone and a controller is a low entry point for such a capable setup. Lower price point than the Mini 4 Pro.

Has anyone tested the camera / lens yet?

Had to search around, but found this article that talks about image quality. https://petapixel.com/2025/01/14/djis-flip-combines-the-ease-of-the-neo-with-the-image-quality-of-the-mini/

Has anyone tested the camera / lens yet?

I'm just curious if anybody has had a chance to take some sample photos with their Flip yet. It would be nice to look at the photos close up for lens sharpness, noise, etc. We think we know what the image quality is like, but until we actually test it... If you got 'em, post 'em! 😄

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

It's a good point! Less broken propellers too. What would even make it a little bit better is if the center of gravity (CG) was *below* the cages. One problem with the NEO is if you bump sideways into a wall, the drone tips up, and is sucked into the wall. If the drone tipped down, it would...

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

It seems like DJI is trying to lower the costs of their drones and controllers (Neo, Flip, N3 Goggles), so they are trying different configurations to see what works. The Neo (I own one) has a super low price, but it costs you a lot of features and capability. But maybe that's fine for some...

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

In terms of photography, I'm always shooting panoramas, so I can go as wide as I want. The Mavic Pro 2 seemed like a good compromise at 28mm. 14mm is crazy wide in photography terms. It makes sense in FPV so you can see where you're going?

    Flip is Here!

I think it's a fun design, and it has great features. I just don't know why someone would buy one if they already have a solid camera drone (Mavic 2 or 3, or Air 3/3S, or Mini Pro 4). The Avata2 and Neo are ways for people with camera drones to try something new.

Where does it fit in the lineup? Flip vs Neo, Mini4 Pro

Are we more clear now about where this fits in the DJI lineup? Flip vs Neo The Flip has more speed, longer flight time, 3 axis gimbal, and front obstacle avoidance. The Flip is def a dedicated camera drone. The ONLY thing the Neo can do that the Flip can't is FPV mode with goggles. Flip vs...
