Just curious has anyone tried maybe clipping just a few of the spikes and sanding the insides edges of the circular prop guards to possibly reduce wind resistance. I have found even in winds around 10moh it doesn't want to move even in sport mode.

I don't have a Flip, but are you saying that in winds around 10mph it doesn't move. That's only about 4.5 m/s. The Flip is rated for 12m/s in normal mode and 16m/s in sport mode so I don't see why it would not be moving. Maybe the forward obstacle avoidance has detected an obstacle and is preventing the Flip from moving forward. What kind of environment are you flying in? Sometimes the sun can be interpreted as an obstacle by the obstacle avoidance system.

I don't think removing any of the spikes from the built it prop guards would make much of a difference.

I mean the sun was out I just feel like maybe there are so many it's creating a wing or "parachute" of sorts and it wasn't super sunny just flew it through a mobile home park doing roof inspections I had the forward thrust stick all the way forward and it just hovered

Usually if obstacle avoidance is triggered you would hear the beeping and see the red arched line at the top of your controller indicating that the forward obstacle avoidance was triggered. If this occurred it would prevent the drone from moving forward. I believe the Flip only has forward obstacle avoidance.

Yeah it wasn't displaying the obs. Avoid.

Maybe some other members who actually have a Flip will chime in and have some suggestions to help figure out the problem.

One other solution is to post on the sister forum - Mavicpilots. See link below. It’s a much larger forum and there are experts on there who can read the log files from the drone flight and tell you what exactly the problem is before you start cutting spokes off your drone. They will tell you how to get the log file off the controller which isn’t that hard.
